Being set up by friends may consume you with terror (especially if they are the much hated blind date) but in order to meet people you do have to go out and do a few things that perhaps you wouldn’t normally. A relaxed lunch out with friends may be easier than the ‘whoops two singletons pushed together’ at a more staid dinner party. Also you’ll have the advantage of being in a ‘neutral zone’ rather than someone’s house which might help promote a greater sense of intimacy in conversation. If, though, you are at a party though, it cannot hurt to at least display the correct signals towards a potential suitor. Looking downwards and being introverted will not get a rush of men beating towards you! Smile, keep your head up and try and be interested in the people who come toward you.
