A matchmaking process or a dating system that encourages people to meet a large number of new people (who are potential partners for them), is known as speed dating.
There are many speed dating services offered and though they might use various ways of arranging the dates, all speed dating services have the same kind of concept behind it.
A person would meet another person- whom they’€™ve never met before, matched up randomly- by the speed dating service, and within€ for instance 8 minutes (the time period varies from one speed dating service to the other- but it is generally a very short period of time) they need to communicate as much as possible with each other before moving on to the next date and so on until a large number of people have under gone ’speed dating’ each other.

At the end of the speed dating session, if one likes to get to know more about, say, five people, they are supposed to make a list of the five names and hand it over to the service and later after perhaps one or two days, if the five people also wants to get to know the one mentioned above (as indicated in their lists), a match is made, and an exchange of information will occur- provided by the service; this is so that later on, the interested parties can get to know each other better.

Therefore, basically, the few minutes in speed dating will be filled with questions and answers directed at each other. Hence, without wasting time, it is important to get to know information that is most important to you, when selecting a partner. For a match to happen, if you’re interested in one or two people, you have to make sure they are interested in you too. Hence, the questions asked and answers given should ensure that an attraction would take place- and would impress each other. A person should generally aim to come across as a sociable, well mannered, relaxed and confidently outgoing to form a good impression.
There are several general questions given below, that you can ask when speed dating or should be prepared to answer.
Some serious questions:
What are you most proud of in your life?
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
What is the first thing you would do if you only have few months more to live?

Some of the light hearted questions are:
Who was your hero when you were a child?
What did you do today that made you feel good?
What is your hobby?
What is your favorite word and why?

There are certain things that are generally better to avoid. Some examples of these kind of questions are: asking where they live in a specific manner, asking religious based questions and asking about their employment status. Also, when answering questions in speed dating, it would be better to not talk about your previous dates or about how much you miss your ex.

Speed dating is one of those things I’ve always wondered about, but never tried. I’ve never tried because it feels too much like a comparison of physical attributes between a group of people than anything else.

I suppose I could be wrong, though. Maybe I’ll give it a shot; keeping your questions handy, of course. ;)
